But is this idea continuing to have support in the talks under way in Brussels?
Naim Rashit, executive director of the Balkan group for policy drafting, said in a conversation for the Voice of America, that the issue of changing borders continues to remain on the table as an opportunity for a final solution.
“Such an agreement that would include recognition and that could include changing borders will not be unilaterally divided, but eventually change of borders in the north and the Presevo Valley. But it is one of the versions that Mrs. Moghrin's cabinet continues to process with it”, Rashi said.
He says the focus of the negotiating facilitator is to secure a draft agreement, which will then be put into a form of final consultations. According to him, talks remain closed in very narrow circles in Brussels and with consultations with the US State Department.
The American and European Union expectations are that by March or April there will be a draft agreement and eventually have a final conference that will complete the process. These are the expectations of key circles and that there is very little trust that can be carried out”, he said.
