Through a communique released to the media, the Church has criticised the view expressed by President Vucic, favouring a final solution to the issue with a “division between Albanians and Serbs”.
According to them, if official Belgrade and a Republic of Kosovo then the consequences will be serious to Serb residents.
“A particular concern is the fact that under the guise of so-called partition between Serbs and Albanians” there is a major probability of breaking the larger and more important part if not all of Kosovo from Serbia and recognition as part of an independent state or even as so-called Greater Albania. The consequences of such a decision for us as Church would be tragic for the survival of our people and our holy places. In this case, most Serbs, without sufficient protection and security, would be forced to emigrate, with even greater intensity than today, would form a clean ethnic Albanian society and all traces of our historical existence would be destroyed”, said the Orthodox Church's request.
