The Steering Board of Electronic and Post Communications Authority (ARKEP) at the meeting held today has reviewed the level of implementation of the state phone code 383.
As a result, in this meeting, according to ARKEP Chairman Kreshnik Gashi, it has been decided that in respect of the law on electronic communications toʹti's e-communication has been pronounced the latest advice on the implementation of the code of all operators and to define sanctioning measures in many of 10,000 euros on effective monthly grounds since January 15th, 2018 for operators who do not remove foreign codes from use.
“Mobile PhoneOperators with today's decision should know that if they enter on January 16th of 2019 without dismissing the actual phone codes that are in use as parallel codes like code 377 and code 386, they will be fined on a monthly basis of 10 thousand Euro”, Gashi said, for Kosovapress.
Gashi, among other things, has said that the latest admonition is the necessary initial measure for determining sanctions. He has added that ARKEP has also addressed the requirements for delaying the departure of foreign codes in use in the Republic of Kosovo as parallel codes, code 377 from Kosovo's Telekom operator and code 386 from the operator, respectively. IPKO and has decided not to accept demands to delay the deadline.
The two operators have demanded that the end of 2019 be the time when they can remove foreign codes for use in Kosovo. Kosovo Telecom Operator has made such a request because of the financial problems they have and not the necessary investments that are for full functioning of the Code, while in the operator IPKO, they've made the necessary changes in their power plants, but they've demanded that Code 386 be like alternative code”, he said.
The progress achieved in terms of full implementation of the 383 code has been outlined at the meeting, with particular emphasis on removing the 381 code, as well as opening for use of the 383 code by operators both for Kosovo-oriented calls and also in calls dubbed in Kosovo.
Otherwise, the Electronic and Post Communication Regulatory Authority (ARKEP) had been given two additional deadlines -- the last by October 31st -- that these operators deport foreign codes +377 and +386.
