Drive during the autumn and winter months as a result of changing seasonal temperatures is more dangerous, so all drivers need to have increased care.
During this period of fog in the streets, driving can be dangerous because visibility is reduced, and this can contribute to traffic accidents. To always be safe during driving, the Kosovar Motorization Association AMRKS gives these five advice for driving in the mist:
1. Slow down if visibility is limited or stop driving and get your vehicle off the road. If your view is limited because of the mist, reduce and adjust your speed according to road conditions because the presence of dense fog masks the sense of speed as you drive.
2. Use the short-range lights. When the view is limited, a driver's natural tendency is to activate high - ray lights. The high-ray vehicle drive reflects outside the mist and can turn into your vehicle.
3. Use the fog lights. If your vehicle has these lights, it helps to illuminate the road in front of you, and these lights make your vehicle more visible to other drivers. Some vehicles also have background lights that help drivers who move back to see you from even a larger distance.
4. For navigation, use the right line near the sidewalk as a guide. In dense mist, navigate the lines on the right side of the road as a guide. Do not use the white middle line for orientation because doing so will endanger you by offering closer to the vehicles that come from the opposite direction, which have the same challenges because they do not see enough where they are going.
5. Don't stop on the road. When you can't see where you're going even though a natural reaction is to slow down or stop the vehicle. In the mist, never stop on the street. Find a safe place outside the road to stop your vehicle as far away from traffic as possible and turn off the lights. Leaving the lights on may deceive other drivers behind you because when they see the lights on your vehicle, they'll think you're on the road, and this could cause traffic accident.
