90 people have lost their lives by 69 fatal accidents that occurred in the January-September period of this year. Eleven thousand and 776 accidents occurred in total until the end of September, while police pronounced 305 thousand and 863 tickets.
This data was released in the launching of the “project focus on the driver”, under which police are also making the distribution of brochures for accident prevention, Kosovo passes.
Samedin Mehmeti from police said the traffic situation continues to be bad, despite this year's more than 8 thousand fines less than last year.
“We have access to various expertise that say the KS has the largest number of accidents in the region, which is not true, since Croatia has the largest number. According to some tests in 2017, Kosovo has the number 7.8 in 100 thousand residents”, he said.
He announced that during 2017, 42 people died in their own accidents - their average age was 20 years of 30 years.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Idriz Selimaj said the ministry is committed to not bleeding roads.
“The MPB with its own initiatives has formed a task force that is in its last month. The table will be released at the end of the month with a document”, he stressed.
