MPs from the Kosovo Assembly, members of the Parliamentary Commission for Security, have held public debate over the Kosovo Security Force Bills package, with members of the Serb community.
The chairman of this commission, Haxhi Shala, has invited Serbian citizens to apply in the Kosovo Security Force to be part of it and not to succumb to threats.
“Sic is reported to you Serb members have issued the KSF, but we can't say they have left it with pleasure, there are numerous demands, there are about 300 Serb demands to become part of the Kosovo Security Force. We from the Serbian community have new cadres and lieutenants what is important are being prepared in both NATO and the countries of the region”, Shala said.
While the member of this commission from the Vetevendosje Movement ranks, Rexhep Selimi, said the voice of the Serb community is not properly represented in the Assembly.
Serbian List participants have given up this processing group's participation, not even staying in the hall. Such abstention and something that is in the interest of Serbian citizens in Kosovo, I think is a failure to represent the interests of Kosovo citizens. I wish you had the representatives talking about you, but rarely does your voice penetrate parliament”, Selimi said.
He also added that the Kosovo military does not mean war, but implies peace.
The army is done not to fight but to protect territorial integrity. Don't see the army and the war together, don't see it as something that will do war, nor will it be a aggression”, Selimi added.
While other member Fatmir Xhelili has clarified a statement by Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who has said the army will take place in November this year.
“The establishment of Kosovo's security force takes time, the laws are only the beginning of new competencies operating in the framework of the Constitution, at least it will take 8 to 10 years to become an army now, even though it will be called the Kosovo Security Force, we're talking about 500 thousand people, we're talking about 5,000 people, that will be divided into different entities, 2,500 of the training table, and that's how it's a process nothing will happen in December or January. We are unable to form the army for a month and have the capacity to protect the state”, Xheli said.
He has also invited young Serbs to visit KSF barracks.
