Star Roman Reigns is giving up the Universal Championship title because he suffers from leukemia.
The four-time world champion told fans Monday that he was diagnosed with the disease 11 years ago and that he had recovered.
But he added that leukemia has returned to them and that it can no longer be champion of war in the ring.
Roman, a former American footballer, made the announcement in the ring in Montaday Rain Night.
Addressing the crowds, the 33-year-old said: “You have made it possible for my dreams to become reality. It doesn't matter whether you supported me or despised me, you've always reacted to me and that's important. And I want to say thank you very much. ”
Roman, whose real name is Joe Anoai, told the fans that he wanted to make it clear that his statement was not a “retirement statement”.
He said that once he recovers from leukemia, he will be returned home “.
