The Pristina court has decided to free this Friday from arrest measure Albert Veliun, known to the public as “Babitalja”.
At today's court hearing, the court rejected the Albanian authorities' request to arrest Babale, as asylum procedures still follow for the citizen in question. Also, procedures for his extradition still follow.
In a telephone link to ABC News, Albert Veliut Tom Gashi's lawyer confirmed that the decision was made a few minutes ago.
“The decision was taken a few minutes ago. There's regular asylum procedure. There can't be a state arrest required to seek political asylum. Without the end of the asylum process, no one can be arrested, especially when the demand comes from the state from which it has left”.
Babalja was arrested yesterday by police at a centre of asylum seekers in Pristina, a place in which Albert Veliu remained since May. Veliu claims that in Albania life is at stake, as he according to him has denounced a case of drug trafficking.
On Saturday, we left behind the Randa Crimes decided on Veliun's detention measures in absentia, after “Babija” is accused of false speculation committed in co-operation, as well as illegal border crossings.
Babalja became known for Albanian public opinion right after publishing a voice of surveillance released by the DP, where associate X claimed (Albert Veliu) was negotiating a case of drug trafficking with Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj's brother. A few days later, Babalja appeared face - to - face where she gave an interview, acknowledging that he spoke to Agron Xhafay about drug trafficking.
