The chances in the country are starting to become common. Almost every day, such cases are reported. This year alone, 57 cases of blackmail have been reported in the Kosovo Police. Meanwhile, for the past three years, that figure totals 216 cases. Based on police reports, most blackmail is done on social networks, which are usually female victims.
The women's intimate photos have become the main tool for blackmail recently.
On the day of September 21st this year, the F.F. from Gjilan was arrested after threatening his former girlfriend that if he did not provide him with a thousand and 200 euros, he would publish intimate photos on social networks and her family.
The prosecution, shortly after the announcement of this case from the police station in Gjilan, against the suspects, has issued a decision on the ban, in the course of 48 hours.
Two days later, it was also reported on such a blackmail case, which the suspect ended up behind bars.
But these are not the only cases of blackmail that occurred this year. In fact, over the years, they seem to be just growing up.
According to Kosovo Police statistics that have secured the Express newspaper, about 60 cases of blackmail have been reported this year alone.
Meanwhile, for the past three years, that figure totals 216 cases. Based on reports issued by Kosovo Police every day, most blackmail is done through social networks. But women are the victims of blackmail.
Otherwise, the issue of blackmail is also regulated by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
On the basis of Article 341 of this code, “anyone who, with the intention of illegally benefiting rich for himself or the other person, casts out the other person who will discover something about him or his relatives who will damage their honor or authority and thus force such a person to commit or fail to commit any act at the expense of his or the other person's property, is sentenced to a fine and imprisonment of six months (6) to five years. “
However, if blackmail occurs with the use of weapons or dangerous means, and property damage exceeds 10,000 euros, prison sentences range from 1 to 10 years.
