Statistics show that Kosovo citizens are the poorest in the region and Europe. But this has not influenced luxury to stop. Only for tobacco have citizens burned over 91m euros.
Kosovo Customs data shows that for a year and a half, from January 1st of 2017 to June of this year in Kosovo, more than 91m euros for 4m kilograms of tobacco were melted, reports FactePlus.
According to Dogana, for the whole of 2017, Kosovars bought tobacco worth 61m and 961 thousand euros.
That money imported 2 million and 775 thousand pounds, while only 124 thousand euros were spent on cigars, which their net value was 1296.
The Kosovo Customs Information Office confirmed on FactePlus that it notes a trend of increased money spending for tobacco in 2018.
According to the data, for the first six months of this year, between January and 31 June respectively, for importing 1m and 252kg of tobacco have been granted 29m euros.
According to the World Health Organization, between 2020 and 2030, 30 million people worldwide will die from tobacco - causing damage.
In Kosovo, meanwhile, it is said that the number of young people who smoke is large and growing.
And the various data published from domestic and international institutions from time to time show that citizens of the Republic of Kosovo are the poorest in the region and Europe.
Average per capita income in Kosovo is the smallest compared to all countries in the region.
