The 36-year-old retired a year ago after a brilliant career, but is being sought by Milan's former owner, Berlusconi, who is rebuilding a team that he bought in Serie C.

According to the publication by the Spanish daily Marca, Berlusconi admires Kaka from their time to Milan and wants the former player back to help Monzan promote this season.

Kaka is thought to be willing to return after working with Berluscone in San Siro, where six years have spent together since 2003 and 2009 before being reunited in 2013.

He is currently without a club after a three-year career in the MLS Orlando City team, Periscope follows.

Known for his elegant drives and the note of spectacular goals, Kaka won the 2007 Golden Ball and also played for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Less than 18 months after the sale of AC Milan, the company funded by Berlusconi, Fininvest announced last week that it had bought 100 per cent of the Monza club's shares in an agreement allegedly worth between 2.2 million pounds and 2.6 million pounds.

The 81-year-old Berlusconi, who was three times as prime minister of Italy, sold AC Milan in a Chinese-led consortium for 800m dollars in April 2017.

The US-based Elliott Management Fund took control of Milan two months ago after the Chinese owner lost a deadline to repay part of a loan.

Milan's former vice president, Adriano Gallian, was appointed CEO of Monza, and promised to promote the team until Serie A. The Monza is located just a few yards outside of Milan City.

Societa Sportiva Monza was formed in 1912. They've never been promoted more than in Serie C.

Under Berlusconi, Milan won 29 trophies for 31 years. /Periscopi/
