This was set to reveal Albanian identity throughout Kosovo's territory.
Half a century ago, today, the Assembly of Kosovo officially decided that the Albanian flag will wave free across the country, establishing in the country a fundamental right of manifesting the identitative symbol of this major event for our history, preceded the mass protests of September 1968, which marked the historic revival of national feelings. The red and black flag led them to the liberation war to freedom. Flag Day has been celebrated even in the most difficult times, when Albanians were pursued and imprisoned only because they were Albanians and unveiled their symbols. Today, in independent and sovereign Kosovo, along with the symbolic state order, the red and black flag is the confession of our entire journey to freedom and contains the memories of many generations that rose and fell into defense of national freedom, covered with this flag. Eternal be the memory of all generations who wet the red and black flag with their blood! ”, Haradinaj wrote.
