“to bring Kosovo closer to the EU, visa liberalisation is vital. MEPs welcome the European Commission's confirmation that the visa standards have been met. This comes despite critical concerns about the weak-funded system of the judicial system, spreading corruption, elements of the seized state, which need to be addressed beyond progress in meeting the criteria for visa” is said in the resolution.
MEPs welcome adopted legislation concerning the European reform agenda, but express concern about the lack of interparty consensus and continued political polarisation in Kosovo, which continues to negatively affect the path of stable reform.
The resolution considers that five EU member states have not yet recognised Kosovo and invites them to do so, as this would facilitate relations between Kosovo and neighbouring Serbia.
The text was approved by 42 votes for 10 against and six other abstentions.
Regarding this resolution, it has reacted through a communique for the media, the Kosovo Institute for European Policy, which invites institutions that urgently address the findings of this resolution.
