Nearly a thousand accidents occurred on October 1st through 20th, 967 accidents respectively.
In these accidents, nine people have lost their lives and many accidents have ended up hurting.
Despite Kosovo Police calls for respect for communications signs and higher security in traffic, the accident rate is still high.
Security expert, Nol Deday for Indexline has said the high number of accidents indicate that the relevant institutions have not conducted research about possible elements that cause accidents.
Dedaj has stressed institutions must do accident analysis to then intervene on the cause of accidents.
The preventative measures to be taken are depending on the elements of the factors that have caused them. Since we are in the summer season and the number of vehicles increases, then we must have special care about identifying high - risk countries and inform participants on the streets through various forms, such as tracts, radios, different spots. Then fixed points and speed measurement furniture identify the vehicles technically out of order and so on. So these were some preventive measures in the short term, while in long-term preventative measures, which means implementing long-term 3 or 5-year-old security projects that should be part of a 10-year strategy for “safe road”, which tends to reduce the number of 50% accidents. But, unfortunately, Kosovo has no option because there is no institution for identifying the causes and taking preventative accident measures”, Dedaj has said.
It is noteworthy that the high rate of accidents this year has led Cosova Police to form the so-called Task Force Task Force, where traffic controls have been increased and punitived with punitive measures.
This has resulted in ticketing, where each day over 1,000 tickets are pronounced for traffic violations.
And during 2019 alone, police have pronounced 371 thousand and 976 fines.
During the following year in Kosovo, more than 16,000 accidents occurred, where 119 people died.
