Macedonian Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, who is on a visit to Pristina, has commented on Macedonia's president, Gjorge Ivanov, of the law adopted a few days ago in Macedonia's Assembly for Use of Albanian Language.
In a proposal for EO, Xhaferi said he does not yet have all the details known, but with his return to Skopje since tomorrow, he will review all aspects of Ivanov's remarks or suggestions.
Xhaferi said the law will be back for review at the next session in the Assembly, while the regulation predicts that this will be done as far as February 11th 2018.
If approved again with the majority of MPs, it automatically goes into effect.
In view of the fact that I am in Pristina about the manifesto for marking the 550th anniversary of the death of our national hero Gjergj Kastriot-Skenderbeu, I have received the news that Ivanov has signed all legal projects that have been adopted in the session; the only one that has not been decreed is the law on languages. But the details are unknown to me. With the return to Skopje, I during tomorrow's day will consider all aspects of the approach of Ivanov's” remarks or suggestions, Xhaferi said.
“Normically that, for the fact that no decree will occur, I will respect parliamentary procedures that are outlined in the working regulations of the Republic of Macedonia parliament that the bill with suggestions Ivanov has to revote in parliamentary procedure. This should happen within 30 days of the law passed, meaning January 11th, the last day of revote is February 11th or February 10th”.
“So in the first regular next session involving the agenda points will be one of them, the law on languages restored to the procedure for revote”, Xhaferi explained.
While Xhaferi was visiting Pristina, Macedonia's president, Gjorge Ivanov, has announced he has not decreed the law on the use of Albanian language, which was approved by 69 votes. The VMRO-DPMNE-led opposition MPs had not participated in the vote.
Through a statement of media, Ivanov announced that he has sent a letter to Macedonian Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, in which he has given all the reasons why he has not signed this law.
According to the Macedonian president, by this law “a very expensive parallelism is introduced in all state bodies of the country, which leads to their overall deadlock, even malfunction”.
Xhaferi today participated in several activities organised on the occasion of 550th anniversary of the death of national hero Gjergj Kastriot-Skenderbeu, including promotion of post stamps “Skenderbeu” from Kosovo Post and Macedonia.
