The chairman of the KLA's Council for the Protection of Veterans, Geevdet Qerici, has said the claims that Nasim Haradinaj, deputy head of the KLA War Veterans Organisation, has given to US Ambassador Greg Delawi, are unacceptable, and a low level.
In Info Magazine of Kosovo, he has declared that friends who helped us in our most difficult day should be honored, underlining the fact that he himself is against the functioning of the Special Court, but that this should be done with the language of arguments, not insults.
This statement is low, given the contribution the US has made to the exchange of Kosovo. For many war veterans with whom I have communicated, Nasim Haradinaj's language in the direction of Ambassador Greg Delaway has been unacceptable”.
We have been against forming the Special Court since the beginning, because it is known who committed crimes in Kosovo. But what has happened has not yet been proven to the world. The blame is on political parties, who are now seeking the abolition of the Special Court Law, which is the injustice being committed to the country”.
“We need to maintain friendship with the US and the EU, because they have done a lot to keep us independent. For all this happening, it's our country's institutions. None of their representatives have had a serious initiative to establish a court that would judge the crimes committed in Kosovo”.
The American ambassador wants good for Kosovo and I don't believe he works against the future of this country. I have full confidence in the United States. I have many friends, American officers, who have tried to honor myself for everything they've done for us.
“We continue to oppose the abolition of the Law for Special Court, but the language used in the direction of the American ambassador is unacceptable”.
Our <x0 May) battle has been launched by the Kosovo Liberation Army, the people of the country, but with the help of our friends, we have won freedom. Maybe without them, we'd get our freedom, but it'd be longer. So the contribution they have made to our freedom should be valued”.
“We are for judging those who committed crimes, but not unilateral. Who's convicted of Recak's massacre? Or other massacres? Or the expulsion of over a million citizens? Why doesn't anybody handle this stuff? Are there charges for Serbs who committed crimes? The Serbs have killed women and children, and the elderly, but none of them are tried at”.
The War veterans' body seems to be under political pressure. There had to be debates with citizens, to argue why this court is unfair, not for things to develop so rapidly. I think this court will start working, no matter the eventual abolition of the Kosovo Assembly. I'm saying this by what I'm seeing, not by any other recognition”.
From what I've seen on the ground, I can say that the KLA war is clean, and this court is political, designed to balance the guilt, so to make it look like both sides have been blamed”
