They are facing the cold weather of the winter season.
Some have been sheltered in the province of Vojvodina.
Many migrants are living in abandoned homes near the border to easily cross the cold.
Local residents, especially some farm owners, have expelled immigrants from Bachki Vinograd, saying they are destroying their property.
Thousands of migrants and refugees have remained in Serbia, as increasing border control and closing of the so-called Balkan “road” to the European Union in 2015.
Hungary has completely closed its borders in 2015 and has since allowed only 10 people a day, mainly family members to cross the border from Serbia.
According to aid groups in Serbia, about 4,000 migrants currently live in the country's official camps.
However, according to them, about 500 others live outside these spaces, fearing they might be expelled or prevented from entering the European Union.
