The LDK's GP has announced that it has submitted its application for this intervention today, with the argument that it finds the chief executive's decision to raise salaries unreasonable.
According to the LDK, it would be best for this decision to be annulled as quickly as possible.
Here's the LDK's full announcement:
Today, the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic League of Kosovo has submitted the request for interference with Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj over the Government's decision no. 04/20 on the 201.12.2017 salary increases in the government cabinet.
The Democratic League of Kosovo, taking into account the socioeconomic situation, unemployment and wage levels in the country, deems the decision to have Kosovo's highest salary compared to its counterparts in the region unacceptable. Such a decision is extremely harmful, uncontaminated, and creates a huge disrepute between citizens' income, income of other employees in the public sector with the salaries of government cabinet officials. With this decision, the pay gap between government cabinet officials and a civil servant has increased from 1 to 4, to 1 to 8. This disrepute is much greater for those who receive pensions or social aid, or even the average salary in the private sector.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo, on December 20, 2017, in opposition to the applicable laws in Kosovo, has made the decision to raise salaries for the prime minister, deputy prime ministers, ministers and the rest of the government cabinet. The decision, which exceeds the competencies defined with the Government's Labour Rule, which in no provision determines the Government's competencies and responsibilities for setting up salaries for the prime minister, ministers and the rest of the governing cabinet.
So, as the MPs of the Democratic League of Kosovo Parliamentary Group were earlier told, in this selection will require the immediate annulment of the illegal decision to raise government cabinet salaries, as well as conduct in the Assembly for approval, in the short term possible, of the Law for Public Sector Salat.
