During recent times Serbs have continued to claim that riots in Kosovo are expected.
It is Serbia's Defence Minister, Aleksandar Vulin, who stated that after the assassination of the leader of the Serbian Civic Initiative, ʹLiri, democracy, justice, Oliver Ivanonvic, the situation in Kosovo is not calm.
He has said he will allow the security of Serbian citizens in Kosovo to be endangered and that the Serbian Army is ready to protect them.
Serbia's “Army is ready to defend every part of our territory and we are highly organised and prepared for all citizens of Serbia and assure them that the peace and stability of our country cannot be jeopardised if the Serbian Army is here”, it has added further.
Linked to these statements during the recent developments, Indexline has contacted KFOR in Kosovo, who have expressed confidence that the situation in the country is stable.
“KFOR continues to ensure a secure environment and freedom of movement throughout Kosovo, according to the provisions of RKSB1244, for every citizen of all ethnicities”, is said in the response given by the KFOR Media Office in Kosovo.
Also, the latter have added that KFOR remains vigilant, working in close co-operation with local and international security organisations.
It should be added that the murder of a Serb politician in Kosovo is seen as a disturbing possibility of the situation on Kosovo's territory, but that made headlines in almost every country in the world, such as political murder in the country after 15 years there were no such political killings.
Ivanovic's murder case continues to be under investigation, while there are still no detainees since Tuesday morning, when the whole event took place before his office in northern Mitrovica.
