The assassination of Civic Initiative Chairman “Liberty, Democracy, Justice” (SDP) Oliver Ivanovic, has raised many reactions and tensions between Kosovo and Serbia.
Amid many statements and reactions, Serbia's Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has delivered a clear message to recent developments in the country, saying Serbia's military is willing to react to any threat to Serbian citizens wherever they live.
Serbia's “Army is ready to defend every part of our territory and we are highly organised and prepared for all citizens of Serbia and assure them that the peace and stability of our country cannot be jeopardised if the Serbian Army is here”, Vulin has said on Wednesday.
On the other hand, the Volin declaration is no concern for the only military force offering peace and security in the country, the KFRO.
KFOR spokesman Vincenzo Grasso, in a response to the portal .infoʹ regarding Aleksandar Vulin's statement, has said KFOR continues to ensure a safe and free environment for all Kosovo citizens.
“KFOR continues to ensure a safe environment and ensure a freedom of movement through Kosovo, under the provisions of UN Resolution 1244 for all citizens of all ethnicities. KFOR remains vigilant, and working in close co-operation with local and international security organisations”, Grasso says in response.
Kosovo's Security Force has also sent questions to the Serbian Army chief's statements, but Ibrahim Shala, director of the Department of Public Relations at the Security Force, has said the KSF is not responsible for maintaining security and order.
The “responsible for maintaining order and security in Kosovo is Kosovo Police and KFOR”, Shala has said February.
And Kosovo Police Director Shpend Maxun has told the media on Tuesday that Kosovo police are more closely investigating the Serbian politician's murder in Kosovo.
Kosovo's “Police with the greatest dedication will do everything in our possibilities and capacities to whiteen this case”, Maximi has said.
We remember that Oliver Ivanovic was shot dead Tuesday around 8:10 minutes before his party headquarters, the Civic Initiative. According to the autopsy, he was shot in the upper part of the body with six bullets from a Zastava M70A-type gun, Serbian production. Ivanovic's body was found by a neighbor who was going to the store. The ongoing investigation is still unknown as to who the perpetrators are.
