The embassies of various European Union states do not dismiss the possibility of sanctioning Kosovo politicians who will support the abolition of the Special Court Law. According to them, a serious violation of international commitments in the country is not even imagined to pass without consequences today, writes the newspaper Voice.
France's embassy in Pristina does not dismiss the possibility of sanctioning Kosovo deputies with no visa relations if they continue to support the abolition of the Special Court Law.
According to them, it is unthinkable that a serious violation of international commitments in Kosovo will pass without consequences. “Sanctions are possible if the situation requires it. But they can be discussed and should be located only within the European framework. It cannot be imagined that a serious violation of international commitments in Kosovo will pass without consequences. We think the reason will prevail, because it is in the interest of the country”, says the French Embassy's response to the newspaper “Zeri”.
While American Embassy officials in Pristina have stated to the newspaper “Voice” that the Special Court will help bring justice to many Kosovo citizens, while they have asked the Assembly to approve the Demarcation Agreement with Montenegro as soon as possible. “Special Court will help bring justice to many Kosovo citizens of many ethnicities and is the vital step for Kosovo's European future. We oppose the bill, which is currently under discussion and repeat our calls to institutional leaders, party leaders and members of the Parliament to give up on the abolition or amendment of any part of the Law for Special Court”, the American Embassy says.
