The race for the post of president of the Albanian Football Federation is entering a hot spot, with everything happening on the surface and below. In an exclusive interview for Top Channel, Pedro Pinto, a prominent former CNN reporter and today director of communication at U. EFA, for the first time, points to the European football government “'s position for the event in the FSHF and the campaign preceding this election process.
Nion, Switzerland, modern U.S. EFA looks cold, just like the emotions of Portuguese Pedro Pinto, former CNN sports reporter who currently heads the UEFA communications office.
Once a journalist with the task of asking as many questions as possible, Pedro today does not allow us more than 3. spokesman UEFA, Pedro's subordinate, stands behind the camera and draws attention when we ask the fourth question. Pedro Pinto, director of U. EFA, speaks on behalf of President Alexander Cheffer and the message he will convey is just one: UEFA is carefully following what is happening in Albania.
Top Channel: What can you generally say about the Albanian Federation and football? What has been done well and should be done better?
Pedro Pinto: I think it's only fair to say that this is a golden moment for shouptar football. The Albanian representative managed to pass through the European Championship finals, and in addition, this team made a very good show at world qualifications. I can't leave out here even the notable improvement of the results with national age teams or visible interventions in infrastructure. In total, we can say that the Albanian football federation has gone towards a modernisation and its involvement in UEFA programmes, as is the gravitys project, clearly shows the improvements of this Albanian football institution. We mention this thing to continue.
Top Channel: Do you have any information about the elections to be held in February for the head of the Albanian Football Federation?
Pedro Pinto: Certainly UEFA is aware of what is happening with the February 7th election. We're aware that there are two candidates, we remain in contact with FIFA all the time, equally collecting information from the ground to make sure everything goes right.
Top Channel: In the event of political interference, what is the position of UEFA?
Pedro Pinto: Positioning UEFA in political interference is very clear, zero tolerance. This is part of the UEFA statute, the FIFIA statute as you know, so we will not allow any policy interference in any form of football. As for election process U EFA will bring to Albania a strong group of delegates who will follow the procedures and ensure the prosperity of the process. We will have to ensure primarily that delegates do not feel any pressure during the voting process and that the vote remains secret. We will monitor the situation very closely so that everything that predicts the regulation will be followed and then we will have a report from our delgats. Only after this process U n EFA will assess the situation.
Top Channel: Does Albania have the risk of ending up like Spain and Greece, where there has been political interference in the elections?
Pedro Pinto: We don't want to compare any situation that happened in other countries, the only thing I want to say is that there will be zero tolerance from any political interference at any level of football, and the election process is a football level in this case, so there will be zero tolerance.
