Zulfaj lives, by the FOL Movement, said the purpose of this table is to discuss media approach in covering employment policies. How do the media report on the subject of employment and how attractive this subject is to generate revenue for the media?
Meanwhile, Gresa Smolica from FOL introduced the findings of the FOL Movement report about this subject. “Raport has analysed media coverage concerning discussions on employment policies focusing on youth employment. Media monitoring has helped us to see that of the thousands of items produced only dozens of them relate to the employment issue”, Smolica said.
Dren Selimi from EYE project said that from measurements made turns out media production mostly focuses on news and showbiz, not on employment themes. The written “Gazets cover much more employment topics than portals”, Selimi said.
Visar Prebreza editor at Kalxo.com, said he does not believe employment themes will enter the top 100 ever clicked news. We should not fight as if we put them on top of 100, but we must fight as we do the most qualitative scriptures”, he said, adding that the employment issue relates to broader themes. Prebreza said more needs to be monitored by the media they produce.
Bekim Kupina, editor in the Koha Ditore newspaper, said that it can't be exciting news of employment or employment. “Medias do not compete as to who is presenting more employment news. There's no room for employment news every day. If news is published that a company has hired some people, this could be considered marketing for that company. What is the line between public interest and marketing?”, Cupina said, adding that nepotism, corruption, conflict of interest, competitions all relate to employment. “The employment has major problems, especially because of nepotisation. Employment statistics are also large in proportion to reports made in the media”, he said.
Enis Veliu, editor in the newspaper Zeri, said the interest in opinion is not employment. “The rehabilitation of young people becomes very secretive. Employment interest is like Xhafer Tahiri or Fatmir Limaj has employed close people, it has become a practice that is taking place through the contract on the work persons are occupying a” position, Veliu said, adding that for employment it is constantly written but that political employment news dominates.
Blerim Xhemajli, editor in Klan Kosova, said reports appearing on TV remain more in mind than written ones. We've had a kind of focus on social problems, with the simple problems of people. The biggest problems are the problems of political employment. “Medias don't have the budget to have profiled journalists for just one drop. We have business informing citizens. We have no good financial stability”, Xhemajli said.
Adrian Colak, editor-in-chief of Blic newspaper, said citizens read at portals what they like rather than what is written there. “In public opinion, imposing them mostly has Government, for example. No government meeting has been discussed on employment topics, nor in the Assembly. Without their topic, these topics will remain in the shadows and we will deal with statistics”, Colak said, adding that if they are referred to by the special court, no one will remember employment themes.
Arben Ahmeti from TV Dukaagjini said no portal can be held responsible for why he posts showbiz news, because that's the way people care. People read what they care about. I can find thousands of articles about the welfare of the job, but we can't measure what differences have been made”, Ahmeti said.
