Italy's Carla Marangon, who at the age of 102 could be named the oldest Olympic champion in the world, died yesterday in Padova (veri), the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) announced today.
Marangon had won a silver medal in artistic gymnastics during the Amsterdam Games in 1928, and he was only 12.
“At the age of 102, it was named the oldest Olympic medal champion still in life, and the last survivor of the Amsterdam Games of 1928”, writes CON in a statement.
The Italian Olympic Committee suggests that this silver medal was the first Olympic medal in the Italian women's sports field.
