Brnabiq urges co-operation with Kosovo authorities for whiteling Ivanovic's murder

Serbia's prime minister, Anna Brnabiq, said her country is awaiting response from UN and European Union missions in Kosovo, in terms of the Serb authorities' request to be involved in investigating the assassination of Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovic in northern Mitrovica.

“We have made a request on behalf of the Government of Serbia to participate in investigations into the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, who are being led by Kosovo authorities. Waiting for Answers From Missions U n NMIC and EULEX, which are located in Kosovo”, said Brnabiq for the Balkan Radio Service Free Europe.

“Of course we will offer all the help necessary to whiteen this horrible crime. If we're not allowed to participate in the investigation, we'll do ours. However, I have high expectations that there will be co-operation and that Serbia will participate in investigations, along with Kosovo authorities”, Brnabiq added.

Ivanovic, leader of the Civic Initiative “Freedom, Democracy, Justice“in Kosovo, has changed his life Tuesday morning, as he was shot in northern Mitrovica.

After the assassination, Serbia's National Security Council has gathered at the meeting, under the leadership of Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq.

Brnabic said that at this meeting, officials have also consulted with the intelligence and military agency and that they will co-operate in eventual investigations by Serbian authorities.

The most important thing is to find him or those who did this, bring them to justice, in order to be punished for what they did”, Brnabiq told Radio Free Europe.

Brnabyq also said there is no response from authorities in Kosovo so, as it said, threats to the Serb minority living in Kosovo.

I don't want to judge for the possible author and I don't pretend Albanians are responsible for the crime. But I would like to stress that there is no reaction from Kosovo officials to threats addressed to the Serbian people. Serbia has sincere goals of improving relations with Pristina, but we cannot do this only”, Brnabiq said.

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, following the meeting of the National Security Council in Pristina, said competent authorities have committed themselves to clarifying Ivanovic's murder and that he does not welcome anyone's statements for intervention in the investigation. Haradinaj said the FBI could be called for help if necessary.
