Serbian media in an analysis concerning US President Donald Trump's visit to Serbia next year have called it a message that they will retain their influence in the Balkans.
According to the newspaper “B92” Trump's visit is the first of an American President to Serbia since 1980, when Jimi Carter visited then Yugoslavia.
Following visits by the president of Russia and China, Trump's tour next year is marked as an important power for Serbia in the region, but also a signal that Belgrade must decide where it will go.
Alexandra Joksimovic, who is director of the Centre for Foreign Policy, stresses for “B92” that Trump will step on Belgrade if Aleksandar Vucic eventually chooses to give up Moscow.
Zeljko Cvijanovic, a prominent journalist, stresses that “Trump will visit Serbia only if Vucic decides to hand over Kosovo”.
