The UN said in Geneva on Friday that more than half a million people have fled the poor country after violence increased to levels similar to those at the peak of fighting in 2014.
600,000 people have moved within the country.
Hundreds of people have been killed since mainly sectarian fighting broke out in May in areas previously spared.
Thousands of Muslims have been sheltered in churches in several areas.
