Deputy Prime Minister Behgjet Pacolli expects to win millions of euros with indictment against Kosovo government

The International Court of Arbitrazhi in Washington will be where chief diplomat Behgjet Pacolli will be officially lined up against his company.

Very soon, judicial sessions can begin where the state of Kosovo will be in front of the company “Mabco Construction”, owned by Minister Pacolli.

Businessman Pacolli had submitted the indictment before his party entered the government. Now, things have changed. The Ministry of Economic Development, which has a key role in the process, is led by Pacolli's party.

This minister heads the process of engagement of international experts and lawyers, in cases when Kosovo is indicted in Arbitrazh. This minister is legally obliged to make preparations against Pacolli's company indictment.

While Pacolli's company has taken a step forward by appointing the arbitrator in this judicial process, the Government of Kosovo has not yet moved in this direction. The rules determine that an arbitr appoints the plaintiff, an indictee and an independent appoints court.

Pacolli has shown the reasons why he has indicted Kosovo for the case of Hotel “Grand”. He has said he is a “idest of a civilising Kosovo, where the law and right” govern.

He added that there was no choice but to be sent to international arbitration.

I'm sorry that these days you will hear speculation that Behgjet Pacolli aims to damage Kosovo's budget, and that he will get before our state”, Pacolli stated.

He has indicated that the case is guided directly by the Mabetex centre in Lugano, as investment over 5.1m euros has come from this centre.

His adviser, Jethlir Zyberaj, has declared that interest does not conflict with the fact that Pacolli's company has indicted the state of Kosovo.

This is the issue dating back to 2006 when Pacolli was not in politics. Today Pacolli has no function in Mabetex”, Zyberaj said.

Even the company lawyer has said the process will go away, despite the fact that the AKR is part of the government.

At the moment, the fact that the AKR has entered into agreement with the PAN has no implications in the course of procedure before Arbitrazhi's forum in the case of the Grand” Hotel, Gazmend Nushi told Inseder.

Despite being the first deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Pacolli believes his company's indictment does not harm Kosovo at all.

“I strongly believe that handling this case from international Arbitrage in Washington contributes to Kosovo, construction and functioning of the legal state in the country”, Pacolli has declared.
