Albania's “Justice System has been let down very much, but we have to get together to get out of”.
This has been the message that has been conveyed to the Albanian public by expert OPDAT for Albanian-American law reform John Juncaj at TED EXI Tirana with the motto “The naked truth is always better than any beautifully dressed lie”.
Juncaj: My mother was obsessed with justice. She said that if you do something wrong, you'll have problems. I've never seen so many people are innocent victims left unprotected by the justice system than here in Albania. I'm especially ashamed because there's no honesty in the justice system because it's been let down too far.
However, the American Embassy's legal adviser, who has been directly committed to justice reform, says there is hope but that in this difficult battle we should all be together.
Juncaj: But I have a feeling I want to share with you, that's hope. We couldn't make it if we didn't all get together. You have to understand one thing. You have a voice. You're a lot, and they're few. It's time to build a place to be proud of.
Juris Juncaj, whose family is originally from Great Malesia, expresses concern and for the departure of Albanians from their homeland, reports “Ora”.
Juncaj: My first language is Albanian, we speak at home. Many young people are abandoning their homes to find other options. I want to be honest with you. I'm ashamed of people who have caused pain for people in certain sectors, both in health care and in education. People need to be educated no matter who they are.
Juncaj was one of the 10 speakers of the event who conveyed inspiring ideas and messages to the public, confessing from a story of their own.
