The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced it plans to turn a large part of the untouched Red Sea coast into a luxury resort.

50 islands and 180 km (110 km) stretch of the coastline -- which amounts to a region of Belgium's sized state-of-the-art state -- would be built luxury hotels and homes with necessary infrastructure under laws, which are in line with international standards, the government said on Tuesday.

The plan is called “Vision 2030”, a long-term plan of Saudi Arabia which is recently struggling to get rid of the support of oil revenues.

The investment discussed on this project amounts to up to $20m.

Some 18 million had visited Saudi Arabia in 2016, but almost everyone had come to make pilgrimage to Mecca instead of spending time and money visiting other countries of this kingdom, the Independent “said <x1.

Construction of a Red Sea resort complex will begin in autumn 2019 and will be completed by the end of 2022, state news agency “said. SPA”

The Kingdom Public Investment Fund will provide initial funds before international organs are invited to invest.

It remains unclear whether Western women and local women will be allowed to dress in bikinis or other clothing that are contrary to royal rules codes, or whether it is still unclear whether they will seek permission of a male caretaker to visit the resorts.

As many as 35,000 jobs will be created by the project, which is projected to generate 15 billion riyal (about 3 billion pounds) annually./Periscopi/
