The super-computer can do 130 thousand calculations per second and when it ends in April 2018, A Bolding Cloud Infrastructure (ABCI) will be the most powerful computer in the world, which will currently exceed China's strongest Sunway TaihuLight computer.

ABCI is similar to standard computers, except that it will be too fast and large, with 1,000 square feet [1,000 sq m] of surface area.

Satoshi Sequiguchi, director general of Japan's National Institute for Advanced Technology Science, said the standard computer takes three thousand years to achieve what supercomputer can achieve in just one day.

Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry will invest $173m in the project.
