With great grief, the Gregory family confirms that the father, the legend of comedy and civil rights activist Dick Gregory was separated from his life tonight in Washington,” wrote his son, Christian, in the Instagram.
Gregory was also involved in a number of civil rights activities in the 1960s.
He campaigned against the Vietnam War, and his protests often included hunger strikes.
