This was a gift for the 50th anniversary of the Volkswagen company.
In 1988, Hans Hansen had dismantled a new VW Golf mk2 car for the book “Das Buch von Volkswagen 1938 1988” (The Volkswagen Book), dedicated to the company's 50th anniversary, broadcast Express. This book was an exclusive gift for all company employees.
The new car was then dismantled into 6843 pieces that were placed around the body of the car.
