Spiegel grew up in Palisades, Los Angeles, east of Malibu. He's the eldest son of two lawyers. His parents divorced when he was in high school.
When Spiegel took his driver's license, he drove an Estalade Cadillac. He spent his early years at an ultra-exclusive school called Crossroads in Santa Monica, which costs tens of thousands of dollars for an academic year.
In 2008, by means of a letter, Spiegel had asked his parents to rent a BMW 550, which cost about $75,000.

Spiegels were members of a large number of clubs, including the Jonathan Club in Santa Monica and La Jolla Beach, Tennis Club and many others.
They have very often traveled to Europe. Spiegel had gone to study Stanford Alma Mater's design when he even met with the cofounders of Snapchat, Reggie Brown and Bobby Murphy.
The three were members of the Cappa Sigma brotherhood. Spiegel was a social chair, and he was quite divided.
Spiegel later befriended the founder of Scott Cook Institute after he gave a speech in a class. Cook ended up leaving Spiegel to work on a product planned for India. Cook ended up becoming an early investor of Snapchat, because he was so impressed with Spiegel. But he thought that the idea behind Snapchat was stupid. “I didn't believe in that product. After all, those who need to eliminate photos. I thought it was a dead business product”, said Cook B.
Spiegel left Stanford only shortly after graduation to work fully on Snapchat. Spanish. Even though Snapchat eventually moved to offices in the Venice Boardwalk, Spiegel lived in his father's house for years, partly because of the cheaper rent.
Spiegel soon became a famous man in the world of technology and medicine. At first, Spiegel had investigated five million dollars of cofounders.
A year later, he also launched the sunglasses with cameras dubbed Spectacles. The 26-year-old was chosen as the youngest billionaire from Frobis, as Facebook was beginning to copy Snapchat, who was also declared the girlfriend of Spiegel, saying they stole the whole idea of her boyfriend.
Moving forward, the Spiegel mission is to keep the camera in Snap all the time. He has positioned his company as anti-Facebook, to communicate only with your closest friends.
