The decision to reduce the iPod line marks the closure of an important chapter for the popular music player.
Apple announced last week the farewell of iPod Shuffle and Nano by cutting off the lines of portable music players in just one model: iPod Touch.
According to Business Insider, the company confirmed the removal of equipment from online shops, but also physical ones. The announcement is not surprising because two iPods have not been updated for years.

When it debuted in 2001, the iPod was the main product that brought revenue to Apple. iPod had 40% of the company's revenue in 2006 before iPhone debut.
In 2014, the last year Apple published data on iPod sales as a category by itself, the company had sold 14.4 million iPods from 55 million units in 2008.
