One of those contenders was the Chinese software giant Tencent, creator of the WeChat.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Tencent CEO Ma Huateng found that his company was close to finalising a purchase of Whatsapp, but at that time he was subjected to a back operation and delays until recovery made Mark Zuckerberg take this business out of hand, because the large social network intervened quickly and finalised the acquisition.
