President Hashim Thaci in his last-year address in the Assembly, which was boycotted by the opposition, has said the founding of the Kosovo Army will take place during 2018.
“We will work together with strategic partners that the year 2018 will be the founding year of the Kosovo Armed Forces. When we are in Kosovo's security, let me stress that Kosovo has been very busy in fighting extremism, terrorism and religious radicalism”, Thaci has said in his speech.
He has also cited dialogue with Serbia, which has said that in the coming year, the final phase will begin. For this phase, Thaci has warned no easy process for Kosovo.
Our past is painful and memories of our suffering still remain fresh, but our past is what makes us proud to look to the future with persistence. That's what I've been aiming for for the Commission for Truth and Conciliance. I'm glad we've been able to establish the preparation team for this commission. We are ready to continue in the final phase of dialogue with Serbia. This final phase will not be easy. To that end, I have begun the stages of consulting civil society and political parties. I call on you to be united in this process and other processes for Kosovo. Every time we teamed up, we've come out victorious”, Thaci says he writes Periscope.
In his address, Thaci has ordered MPs to ratify the demarcation with Montenegro and establish the Serbian Communist Association.
Our “State Stability depends on our commitments in fulfilling our obligations. In this context, we cannot point to the international community and make them guilty of our situation. We must ratify the demarcation agreement immediately. Ratification ends the isolation of citizens. We must quickly establish the Association of Serbian municipalities, because the international community is disappointed if we cannot deliver on obligations taken over”, he has said.
