NATO extends mandate to Stoltenberg

NATO allies extended the mandate to Jens Stoltenberg, as secretary general of the Western alliance until September 30th, 2020.
“Aleates congratulate the secretary-general and have full confidence in his ability to continue his work of dedication, in NATO's adaptation to the security challenges of the 21”, says NATO's announcement.
Stoltenberg, who was formerly prime minister of Norway, has led NATO since 2014.
He wrote on Twitter that it is the honoured “” with the decision of 29 member states.
Stoltenberg took over the coalition leadership in the months after Russia annexed the Ukrainian Crimea Peninsula and promoted separatism in eastern Ukraine.
