Paolo Guerrero has been suspended for a year of football after he has proved positive in tests for metabolic cocaine, which means Peru's captain will not be participating in the World Cup next year in Russia.
Thirty-three years old proved positive on metabolic cocaine tests after a qualifying match against Argentina on October 5th and was suspended for a period of 30 days, which left him out of his country's victory at the “play-off” matches against New Zealand, the Express broadcast.
But, FIFA has announced today that Guerrero is suspended for a year, which starts on November 3rd, when the decision to suspend him was made, which it shows he will not be able to play at the World Cup in Russia, starting in June next year.
Guerrero, who plays for Flamengo, scored five goals in qualifications by helping nationals secure fifth place.
