The CEC's preliminary results for revote in Istog for mayor of the municipality have won AAK candidate Gani Dresaj, who was in competition with LDK candidate Haki Rugova.
Although by a slight margin, however, Dress is at the top.
Ghani Dresaj is currently deputy of the Kosovo Assembly from the AAK ranks. His victory in Istog will force him to leave the deputy post.
Rafet Rama, who is from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), will come in instead. This is because Dreshan replaces the MP candidate, who is in line with the most votes.
Why isn't Dress replaced by an AAK deputy? The Coalition Law on Elections recognises coalitions as a single party and candidates who have been listed by coalition parties, as well as the joint list.
Following Dressaj on the list with the most votes is former MP candidate Rafet Rama.
In this direction, the AAK won Istog (on the basis of preliminary results), but lost power at the central level, which would have one deputy less.
However, since the AAK is in coalition with the PDK and the Initiative, the movements of MPs within them do not pose any major danger.
But when we bear in mind that the AAK and the PDK differ in major topics, such as the demarcation, then an MP more or less has great weight.
Moreover, Rafet Rama, who will replace Gani Dresey, in February 2016 was Hashim Thaci's counterCandid to elect president of the country.
That candidacy was enough to fulfill the quota because Rama himself had declared that his vote would go to Hashim Thaci.
Something similar to the movement of MPs had happened to the AKR during the formation of the Government. The AKR was in the pre-election coalition with LDK and the Alternative.
When AKR leader Behgjet Pacolli decided to pave the way for institution creation and join the coalition PDK-AAK-Nisma, he wanted his own in Government.
He took several positions there except as deputy prime minister, he also became minister of foreign affairs. This prompted him to give up the MP's mandate.
His departure from the Kosovo Assembly enabled LDK deputy Imet Kundman to come. Consequently, AKR and Government in general lost an MP, while the LDK and opposition were strengthened with an MP.
