Erdogan drove to Komotini, a large town in the western Thrace region, where a considerable population of the Greek Muslim minority lives after landing at Alexandropoli Airport. In Komotini he prayed Friday at the mosque of Kir Mahlet in the city.
Greece's Thrace region is home to a minority Muslim-Turkish of about 150,000 people, reports “Hurriyet Daily News”, Periscopi broadcast.
Erdogan is being accompanied by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Hakan Cavusoglu, Foreign Minister Mevluut Cavusoglu, EU Minister Omer Celik, Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul, Interior Minister Suljman Soylu, Chief of General Staff Gen Julus Akar and Energy Minister Berat Albajrak.
Erdogan has been accompanied by Greece's Foreign Minister Georgios Karougalos and Deputy Foreign Minister Ionnis Amanatidis.
