December 30th Marks Beginning of Breakup of Serbian Occupator in Kosovo

On December 30th 1991, on a cold day, Serb forces first attacked the Jashari family in order to prevent Albanian mobilization against the Serbian occupation.

To mark the 26th anniversary of this attack, at the Memorial Complex”Adem Jashari” held the homazhe chairman of the Skyrewright municipality, who is also the son of Witness Hamez Jashar, Bekim Jashar, the chairman of Drenasi, Ramiz Ladrovci, and many citizens from different cities in Kosovo.

Weekend Mayor Bekim Jashari says that today he is here to honor heroes and to remember December 30 of 1991.

While Drenas chairman Ramiz Ladrovci said the news of the first attack on the Jashar family from the Serbian occupant received it on the cold morning of 30 December 1991.

Today, it is also considered very exciting by citizen Enver Kerkuni of Down Below Abria, who said Prekazi is the cornerstone of Kosovo's freedom.

The “is a special and exciting day, a day that takes us back a lot, brings us back where the Jashari family and the entire Drenica offered and sacrificed the most expensive day for the freedom of the country, and this country is the cornerstone of freedom, independence and victory of the country”, he said.

According to the guide, Ilaz Halimi, the first attack on the Jashar family by the Serbian occupationist, occurred on the morning of December 30th 1991, after the return of Commander Adem Yasar with his group from Albania, where they had conducted military exercises.

Halimi indicates that that that day the entire neighbourhood was surrounded by Serbian forces, but the Jashari family vigilance did not achieve the intention to break the mobilisation of Albanian resistance to them.

This attack occurred on the same date as we are today in 1991. The reason for the attack was, because Ademi Jashar with Drenica's group, had returned from military exercises that had been conducted in Albania and Serbs to cut off the lines of resistance mobilization, originally in Kosovo in general, made the attack against this family. The attack occurs early on this date, where it has been snowy days and starts setting up the circle, especially against this family, but also the rest of the neighborhood, since there were guards and family vigilance and associates of Commander Adem Jashar, made Serbs unable to enter”, he said.

Hallim for Kosova Press has shown that after the resistance the Jashar family showed on the day of the first attack, Serbian forces had surrounded the entire village, where they also arrested Adam's father and Hamez Jashar, Bacin Shaban and other members of this family, who were sent to the Mitrovica police station.

Halimi has also shown the words Shaban Jashar told him after being released by Serbian forces, who had told Serbian paramilitaries “he has all but freedom lacks”.

The Jashar family was attacked for the second time on January 22, 1998, and the third attack took place in March of this year, where 20 members of this family were killed and 10 were rescued.

During the day today, the Squirrel Community in co-operation with the Valley Group “Shota”, also hosting a symbolic concert to mark the 26th anniversary of the first attack on the heroic family of Adam and Hama Jashar.
