Britain sounds war alarm, Russian battleships discovered near its coast (Photo)

A British frigate (warship) has accompanied a Russian battleship across the North Sea near the United Kingdom waters on Christmas Day, Royal Navy reports.

The report says that “HMS St Albans” has monitored Admiral Gorskov's activity in areas of national interest”. Russia has not commented on the issue, reports the BBC, broadcasts Indexline.

The Royal Navy said it had had a <x0) rapid arrival of Russian units crossing into the waters of the United Kingdom”.

Britain recently warned of a new threat presented by Russia to internet cables under the sea.

Air Chief of General Staff Sir Stuart Peach, chief of defence staff, said earlier this month that Britain and NATO should give priority to protecting communication lines. He said that “immediately and potentially cutting them would be catastrophic for the economy if they were interrupted. The cables pass through the seabed, connecting countries and continents.
