On a margin note in the newspaper Khaha Ditore, publicist Veton Surroi has indicated that he closed his Facebook account because he couldn't afford to face numerous insults in comments.
In a status on this social network, a few days ago he had irony with the possibility of building the stadium in Drenas. He had written a short sentence saying: “... and the Opera Theatre at Skenderaj”. In his note, Surroi writes that the public sphere is also attempting to be taken over by the same perpetrators who had seized other state assets [being referred to [as] hate units in the PDK].
But it does not distance it from the irony that is underachieverable related to the Drenica [Drens and Skenderaj] region. In fact, it further follows the attack on this region through the humility of the language used [examples] rather than the linguistic interceptor], this is exactly the region.
No doubt, the language of hatred and abusive speech in general must be condemned. They damage public space. But on the other hand, neither the language nor irony used by important figures should be tolerated to humble and humiliate different regions of Kosovo.
In his attempt to rationalise the debate, Surroi writes: “The rational beginning of the debate could be this: since the Olympic Stadium as a political project is required to be built in Drenas, it is logical that the new state theater and Opera Hall is required to be built in Skenderaj”. But the question to be raised here is, What logic does it say that if the stadium is built in a city in a region, theater and opera should be built in the other city of this region? What do theatre and opera have to do with the stadium? Is it just the humiliation of these cultural regions?
In fact, some of the political leaders in Kosovo who are taken as the personification of corruption and misdeveloping of our country were from that region. But that is no reason to ridicule and humiliate the entire region. In fact, the public sphere is deeply damaged when people with public weights use hateful, humiliating language.
