Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi and several other companies have removed Microsoft's software for online talks from their app stores in recent weeks, in response to VoIP apps, which do not respect local laws for digital security.
The service will still work for the users of this region if they already have it on the phone, but from today it will not be accessible for download.
Microsoft announced Skype has only temporarily left iOS App Store and that will be back as soon as possible.
This is not the first case that China has taken such a step, since it long ago blocked whatsapp and similar services because of the encryption preventing spying.
