Britain's Defence Secretary, Sir Michael Fallon, has resigned from his post following charges of his <x0-cypheric behavior”. The BBC writes that his decision is not linked to new or specific charges. British Prime Minister Theresa May has said she appreciates “serity”, with which Sir Michael has analysed his role. May has also said that he appreciates the example he set for British military men and others.
She has accepted his resignation, and has praised his long and impressive career “from the minister after serving as minister in four different governments.
Michael Fallon's resignation comes a day after a spokesman confirmed that he was once reproved by a journalist, Julia Hartley-Breerwer, after putting his hand on her knee during a dinner in 2002. The spokesman said Sir Michael apologized to the journalist shortly after the incident.
Over 50 ministers, deputies and deputy secretaries are involved in a list accused of sexually molesting different girls during their duty exercise.
In his letter of resignation to Prime Minister Theresa May, Fallon writes: “A large number of connections have been mentioned in recent days, including something from my past. Many of these ties may be false, but I admit that I had let go of my standards, making me not feel at the level of the armed forces that represent”.
