PDK's LDK ready complaints for Pristina, Prizren and Dragasin

Political parties are awaiting the announcement of final results by the Central Election Commission, to then begin legal procedures to contest results in several municipalities.

The Democratic League of Kosovo counters the outcome in Pristina and Dragash, while the Democratic Party of Kosovo in Prizren.

The Central Election Commission is expected Wednesday to announce the final results of local elections for mayors. But despite reports of announcing these results, some political parties have warned they will not recognise that result and will continue with their complaints at relevant institutions.

Memli Krasniqi, deputy head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, said that following the publication of the results legal procedures would be followed.

The PDK claims its candidate in Prizren, Shacir Totaj, has been damaged in proportion to the candidate from the Vetevendosje Movement, Mytaher Haskuka, who, according to the CEC, has won the elections in this municipality.

Our request has been to avoid any suspicion of manipulation of election results in forms that we cannot prejudge. The full recount has had to be made in this Prizren case for our request, as has the request for Pristina. All that Vetevendosje's insistence on opposing the recount made us doubt that they have what to hide. Whatever the case, we expect the CEC's official outcome to be announced, then we will follow the preliminary legal proceedings, whether in the Electoral Panel for Anxiety and Parashtre or in other stages”, Krasniqi said.

He expresses confidence that the Kosovo Democratic Party branch in Prizren has enough evidence to prove that there have been irregularities during the voting or counting process.

“I believe that our branch in Prizren has enough materials to counter at least at certain locations, at certain polling stations, results that have not been recounted, but then remains in decision-making instances to address those potential complaints of”, Krasniqi said.

Even the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has warned it will reject the election results in the Pristina municipality and the Dragas municipality.

In Pristina, LDK candidate Arba Abrashi, according to the CEC, has lost in the race for chairmanship, by a slight margin of votes, by Shpend Ahmeti of the Vetevendosje Movement.

The LDK through a communique for opinion has clarified that it will use “all constitutional and legal mechanisms, in defense of the will of citizens expressed in local elections, separately in cases in which irregularities are recorded, such as Pristina and Dragashi”.

Following several complaints by political subjects, the Election Panel for Ances and Parashtres had made a decision that in the Pristina municipality and Prizren's will be recounted. But, with the Vetevendosje Movement's complaint, the case went to the Supreme Court, where it was decided not to recount in these two municipalities.

The LDK considered that the Supreme Court's <x0-veight violates the constitutional right of the LDK candidate, for Pristina, Arbashi”, because according to this political party, “does not give it the opportunity to transparently prove the results through the recounting process”.

On the other hand, Dardan Sejdiu deputy chairman of the Vetevendosje Movement told Radio Free Europe, that what has been seen on November 19th (the day of the runoff) cannot be undone by any leader or “venderant”. He said that those who have lost must accept reality.

I understand that LDK cannot understand and cannot even face defeat in national elections, even in local elections. But even at the loss there must be some dignity, and some kind of admission, self-reflection, not grief and guilt, either of citizens or of others”, Sejdiu said.

This kind of grief, this approach, which makes us think that the PDK, the AAK's LDK, the only goal in politics is to stop the growth of Vetevendosje. Fortunately, their markets even on June 11th and November 19th were rejected by citizens and their free vote”, Sejdiu said.

The deputy chairman of the Vetevendosje Movement, Sejdiu, said there could be no other impasses of this process, as he said, “anything that had legal access has undertaken”.

“The LDK and the PDK are already aware that their time in the opposition is beginning, and I hope it does not end and stay there at least one deceny, as they have held a decenya power in Kosovo, and have made the country poorer in their power”, Sejdiu said.

Local elections in Kosovo are held on 22 October. On that date, the mayors of 19 municipalities and new Asamps were elected in the 38 municipalities of Kosovo. While 19 municipalities went to the runoff in the mayoral race, revote was already organised in Klokot.
