Merkel: Germany fully involved in the EU despite political crisis

“We are fully engaged in our obligations, we are actively involved in all cases”, the Merkel confirmed, at the end of a summit organised in Brussels between the EU and six countries of the former Soviet Union.
“We are fully capable of reacting and making all necessary decisions”, Merkel added, stressing that her presence in Brussels was a good example.
The failure of coalition negotiations in Germany, among conservatives, liberals and ecologists, has sparked concerns in the EU, when reforms are being prepared for the eurozone and banking Union, areas where Berlin's role is important.
However, Germany appears to have taken a step towards exiting the crisis after the leader of the Social Democrats has given up his opposition to an alliance with Angela Merkel for forming a government.
In the event of failing talks between conservatives and Social Democrats, Germany will find it difficult to escape early elections.
