Major Police Action Arrested 11 Child Trafficking Suspects

Under this scope of action, the Directorate for Trafficking in Human Being and PC, based on a special operational plan “the identity of charitable children as potential victims of trafficking” implemented from 06.11.2017 to 10,11.2017, from all units of this directorate and other refugee acts, such as prosecutors in relevant regions, the Centre for Social Work, Directorate for Migration and Foreign Service, and police stations, has achieved the following results:
Identifying (21) charitable children -- of them Kosovo citizens and 8 Albanian citizens --
Identification of (19) adult seekers, of them (9) Kosovo citizens and (10) Albanian citizens,
All arrested (11) suspected persons.
Of (21) charitable children seeking, 18 have been accompanied by family members and equipped with documents that have confirmed the family bond, while three (3) have been associated with others who have been identified as victims of trafficking, where criminal proceedings have been initiated. In the presence of the social worker, all charitable children have been met with forms for alms seekers' notes and their families have been questioned, with the aim of identifying potential victims of human trafficking and handled according to previous procedures.
During interrogation, (3) trafficking victims, two from Albania and one from Kosovo have been identified.
For children who have not resulted as victims of human trafficking, actions and necessary legal measures as follows have been taken:
The foreign citizens have surrendered to the relevant unit, to the Directorate for Migration and Foreign, and to migration units at regional border police directors to continue with actions based on the Law for Foreigners.
For Kosovo citizens, in consultation with the relevant prosecutions, there have been (9) cases of “mishandling or abandoning the child” under Article 250 of the Kosovo Criminal Code and submitted criminal complaints against child parents.
Since two (2) citizens of the Republic of Albania and one (1) of the Republic of Kosovo have been initiated and three suspected persons arrested.
Kosovo police remain committed to preventing and combating all negative phenomena in the country, criminal acts specified under the RKS penal code, including all kinds of crime, in particular those linked to trafficking and child abuse.
