Karim Khan, the lawyer from Limaj's defence party and others, has denied the Prosecutor's claims in the MTP case.
Khan said before the Court that Limaj and the others didn't steal 80 cents, so leave it at 80 million euros.
“Today is yet another important day for Limaj and others, as well as an important day in the judicial process of the Republic of Kosovo. It is an opportunity to explain before you that all claims submitted by the prosecutor's office are completely groundless”, Khan said.
According to Khan, this case started under media lights, it started with the drama of people in black clothes who controlled the Civil Ministry, started with big headlines in all media with claims that 80m euros were stolen back then.
This case won't go way past the view. We are not saying that today for the first time, this has been the constant position of Fatmir Limaj's defence. This case has already been transformed by 7 accused of 12 points related to MTPT, 4 accused of being sidelined, and half of the points have disappeared when we challenged them before Judge”, Khan said.
“Rastin has been a case of the killing in a metaphoric way to say, against the Limaj family. His two brothers were involved, his son who went to the States for a better study but was punished. All this nonsense has been rejected by Judge Adamska. All the messages were faked. What else can we say? But for Fatmir Limaj this is a comfort that has arrived too late. It's shocking the prosecution's sentence in this case. This code is not for us to decorated our tables but is the basis of the law in Kosovo in terms of trial. Fatmir Limaj, me and Tahir Rrecaj have come up with reasonable requests but have been rejected by the Prosecutor's Office in this case. These messages that the Prosecution said were incriminating, but they weren't taken into account, and it was the expertise that proved to be false. Not even 80 cents left on 80 million «were taken from either Limaj or other indictees”, Khan said.
